Congratulations to the recipients of our IMC 2019 Bursary!

A total of £16,000 was awarded to 75 people in this year's round of applications, with awards ranging from £100 to £400. Bursaries were awarded to participants from Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Canada, Chile, the Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Latvia, Libya, Mongolia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Republic of Kosovo, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, Turkey, the UK, and the USA.

IMC Bursaries can be claimed against any items purchased through the IMC Online Store, including registration fees, accommodation, and meals. Most awards are partial bursaries, offsetting some of the cost of attendance. Anyone is eligible to apply for the bursary, but applications are especially encouraged from students, retired and unwaged scholars, people earning a low wage, and those from outside Western Europe.

A proportion of each delegate's Programming and Registration Fee contributes to the IMC Bursary Fund, and there is an option to make an additional donation through the online store during the registration process. Donations can also be made throughout the year.

Of the awards granted this year, three bursaries of £200 each are supported by the Templar Heritage Trust (THT). Operating as part of the Charities Aid Foundation, THT takes a particular interest in the literary, architectural, and cultural legacy of the Knights Templar and makes grants each year for academic research and building conservation projects. One participant will also receive the Sieglinde Hartmann Prize, worth 250, for the best paper proposal in the field of medieval German language and literature. We would like to say thank you to both THT and Professor Hartmann for their continued support.

We received a record 449 applications before the deadline of 15 October from medievalists planning to attend next year's Congress. In 2018, we received just over £1,440 in donations from IMC attendees and supporters.

We are keen to work with individuals and organisations who may be interested in helping us support scholars to attend the IMC. If you are interested in getting involved in this way, please contact us to find out more.
