The below information relates to the emergency replacement virtual IMC 2020 which was hosted online during July 2020. Updated details of technical support – alongside advice for speakers, moderators and attendees – will be published here in due course for IMC 2021.
All papers at vIMC 2020 will be delivered virtually via Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, the University of Leeds online teaching and video conferencing platform. The platform is free to access and does not require the purchase or installation of any specialist software. Sessions will be accessible via links from the conference app.
The supplier recommends that Blackboard Collaborate Ultra runs best using Google Chrome (available for Windows/Android/Apple/iOS) or Safari (Apple/iOS only) web browsers, and you should download the latest versions of these using the links above.
You should ensure that you have a working microphone and webcam on your computer. All speakers and delegates will have the opportunity to check both work prior to joining all vIMC sessions.
Please note that this is our first experiment with virtual conferencing on this scale, and, while we will endeavour to provide a wide range of support information for delegates, our team are not technical experts and formal technical support during vIMC will be limited.
Practicing with Blackboard Collaborate Ultra
Registered delegates can access the Practice Session Room within the vIMC app (UniLeedsEvents).
If you are having difficulties using the practice session room, or have a specific technical question about your presentation, don’t hesitate to email email@example.com.
We have also created a short video which guides you through how to join a session, and key controls for speakers and moderators. We strongly recommend viewing this prior to your first vIMC session.
