Please find details below of facilities and support services on and near campus to support delegates' health and wellbeing during the IMC, including:

Quiet Rooms

University House: De Grey Room / Esther Simpson Building: 1.10
Open: Monday-Wednesday 09.00-20.00, Thursday 09.00-17.00

These two room will be open as quiet places for relaxing away from the lively atmosphere of the IMC.

Please note that, unfortunately, we are unable to provide equipment such as earplugs as in previous years and recommend delegates bring their own.

The quiet rooms are not intended as spaces for socialising or practising your paper: please respect the needs of other delegates. Instructions on using the rooms will be available inside.

Lactation Room

University House: Woodsley Room
Open: Monday-Wednesday 09.00-20.00, Thursday 9.00-17.00

This room is a private, comfortable space, close to a sink and accessible bathroom. It will provide facilities for those who are breastfeeding and needs to express milk during the day. A fridge, labels, paper towels, and wet wipes will be provided.

Sensory Room

Esther Simpson Building: 2.13
Open: Monday-Wednesday 09.00-20.00, Thursday 9.00-17.00

A safe space with reduced sensory stimulation open to any delegates who find themselves overwhelmed. The room will contain multisensory equipment to promote self-regulation techniques.

Delegates should also note that Sensory Bags are available at the Information and Payments Desk in the Refectory Foyer.

Non-Emergency Medical Treatment

Pharmacy

The closest pharmacy to the University is located at 166 Woodhouse Lane, opposite the Parkinson Building. Open 09.00-18.00, Monday-Friday. The pharmacy is closed on Saturday and Sunday. If you require medicines or prescriptions on these days, there are various options in Leeds.

Non-Emergency Medical Treatment

NHS walk-in centres offer convenient access to treatments for minor illnesses and injuries. The nearest walk-in centre to campus is:

Go to Shakespeare Medical Practice website or find it on Google Maps. The practice is open 08.00-20.00 daily.

First Aid & Medical Emergencies

First Aid

In the event of an accident or incident, or if you are feeling unwell, please go to your accommodation reception or go to the Information and Payment Desk in the Refectory Foyer. If you are unable to get to an information or reception desk, alert any nearby member of staff.

For first aid, you may also contact University Security on +44 (113) 343-2222 or 32222 from any University of Leeds telephone.

In the event of an emergency on campus, please dial 999 or 112 to contact the UK emergency services (police, fire, ambulance / paramedic). Immediately afterwards, please contact the University of Leeds Security team by calling +44 (113) 343-2222 or 32222 from any University of Leeds telephone. They will be able to assist in directing the emergency services personnel and vehicles to the incident.

Off campus, please ring 999 or 112 to contact the emergency services (fire, ambulance, police).

Emergency Medical Care

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, you can visit the Emergency Department at Leeds General Infirmary, a short walk from campus. Access to the Emergency Department is via the Jubilee Wing on Calverley Street.

Prayer Spaces & Faith-Based Support

A number of prayer and quiet contemplation spaces are available across campus.

Emmanuel Centre

A central space managed by the Universities’ Chaplaincy in Leeds, where you can drop in to use the chapel for quiet contemplation and prayer.

Islamic prayer room

The Green Room is our main Muslim prayer space on campus, open Monday to Friday 11.00 - 23.00 and located on the side of the Conference Auditorium, behind the Edge. It offers separate prayer rooms, ablution and washroom facilities for brothers and sisters, and has disabled access and washroom facilities. Contact imc@leeds.ac.uk to ask for the access code.

The Leeds University Union (LUU) has a small  reflection room on its first floor which is used by students as an Islamic Prayer Space. The space is available at all times when the LUU is open and does not require pre-booking or an access code, however it is one delegate at a time. The room is equipped with a divider to provide separate spaces for brothers and sisters. They also have prayer mats should they be required. The closest ablution facilities to this space are the male, female, gender neutral and accessible toilets in the main LUU foyer.

Jewish chaplaincy

Hillel House Synagogue on Springfield Mount is home to the Leeds University Union Jewish Society, offering regular morning prayer services and Orthodox and Egalitarian Friday night services.
