Visas for Overseas Delegates
As of 30 January 2020, the United Kingdom is no longer part of the European Union.
We encourage all delegates who are concerned about obtaining a visa, or who are uncertain whether they will require one to attend the IMC as a result of Brexit, to check the official UK government gov.uk website.
Request a Formal Letter of Invitation
Once the programme is confirmed (usually in early December) we will be able to issue formal letters of invitation.
You can generate a letter of invitation by logging into the Speaker Center via the link in your acceptance email.
You can then click on your paper/session, scroll to the bottom of the page and a button titled “Generate Letter” should appear. This will contain details of the paper, session, and date of your participation.
Please note: We ask that delegates wait until they have heard whether their session/paper proposal has been accepted into the programme and scheduled by the Programming Committee before contacting us to request a letter of invitation.
Electronic Travel Authorisation
By April 2025, all visitors who do not need a visa will need an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) to travel to or transit through the UK. To find out more, please visit: www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta. British and Irish citizens do not require an ETA.
Issues or Problems
If you have any concerns, or have been experiencing difficulties obtaining a visa, please let us know by emailing imc@leeds.ac.uk. While the IMC is not able to offer advice on individual cases, we are keen to find out more if individual delegates are experiencing difficulties.
