Abstract

At the forefront of the mass production of sermons during the XIIIth century, the four collections of texts written by Jacopo da Varazze, o.p. (+ 1297) offer a rich material for a systematic analysis (structure, Biblical material, metaphors, exempla, etc). The project of producing a specific database, planned at Lyon (France) by an international team of scholars, has started with the Lent sermons. This new computerized tool for research will be presented and discussed at the workshop.
Participants include Nicole Beriou (Université de Lyon-II), Jacques Berlioz (Université de Lyon-II), Majorie Burghart (Maison de l'Orient Méditerranéen, Lyon), Pascal Collomb (Ecole des hautes études en sciences sociales, Paris), George Ferzoco (University of Leicester) and Marie Anne Polo de Beaulieu (Ecole des hautes études en sciences sociales, Paris).
