|Organiser:||Karen Watts, Royal Armouries, Leeds / Institute for Medieval Studies, University of Leeds|
|Moderator/Chair:||Guy M. Wilson, International Association of Museums of Arms and Military History|
The Royal Armouries Great Helm will be subjected to an interpretative analysis, demonstrating the variety of information and research that can be abstracted from a single object. With the use of digital cameras linked to a projector it will be possible to show details of the construction and modification of the helmet both for its original use in war and also its subsequent use as a funerary achievement. Supporting and comparative evidence will be presented by a digital lecture. This workshop will provide delegates a unique opportunity to study a rare object which will be brought to the session by The Royal Armouries Museum.
