Abstract

The session deals with age related aspects of the vita religiosa in general, with the use of generation metaphors in the context of medieval religious life in particular. Papers will be given on the concept of spiritual childhood and the rejuvenating aspects of the monastic vows, deal with aspects of motherhood and fatherhood, both spiritual and temporal, with expected behaviour and role modells for young and old, and finally with the concepts of old age in 13th century theology.
