Abstract

In the beginning, history could only be transmitted through the spoken word. Much later, the past came to be discussed and preserved through the writing of texts. History books were illustrated in black and white and then in colour. During the last decade, developing technology has made it possible to create huge databases of images. Now, in the 21st century, we use powerpoint – if not video or film – to present our work, representing the continuing merger of images and words. These latest developments are bringing us ever closer towards the possibility of linear multimedia presentations. ‘THE BIBLE VISUALISED’, will demonstrate Axel Bolvig’s experimentation with different presentation formats, combining images (photo-to-movie), speech, and music.
