Abstract

Six hitherto unknown Augustinian sermons were discovered in the course of a long-period-project of the CSEL-Commission, the aim of which is providing a catalogue of all extant manuscripts containing genuine or pseudepigraphic works of St Augustine. As far as the Erfurt-sermons are concerned, the attestation of three of them in the contemporary Indiculum of the bishop's writings as well as a close examination of language, style, and contents prove the authenticity of the texts. The third paper will show that a preaching-mode could also be adapted to written literature, if the orthodoxy of the author had to be confirmed.
