Abstract

The session begins with probable Anglo-Saxon embroideries showing what evidence there is for English production and how and to where on the continent they have travelled. There will then be 2 papers on the Bayeux Tapestry, one examining the quasi-heraldic devices and considering whether they reflect protagonists from different places or are merely decorative; and one examining how the influence of the Bayeux Tapestry has promoted copies and similar collaborative needlework creations in various places.
