Abstract | This session is meant to continue the exploration of the varied medieval approaches to the Book of Revelation, after two sessions dedicated to this subject in 2009. This time the papers presented will focus more specifically on written exegesis: on the interpretive methods applied to the Book of Revelation in different periods and by different, well-known or rather neglected authors (hermeneutical principles, use of sources and of cognitive schemes like for instance the symbolism of numbers), and on the use made of this biblical text for the elaboration of doctrine and of prophetical prevision. |
