Abstract | 'Noghte es sekire to youreselfe in certayne bot dethe.' Thus speaks Old Age in The Parlement of the Thre Ages. Yet death was but the final threshold in the human journey, setting a boundary beyond which earthly life could not pass. The papers in these two sessions engage with the other stops on the journey. By exploring the themes of birth, childhood and adulthood; love and apprenticeship, the speakers seek to attain a better understanding of the experiences that set off medieval lives. |
