Session 929: New Translations of Central European Medieval Texts: A Round Table Discussion

Tuesday 13 July 2010, 19.30-20.30

Organiser:János M. Bak, Department of Medieval Studies, Central European University, Budapest
Moderator/Chair:János M. Bak, Department of Medieval Studies, Central European University, Budapest
Abstract

With the publication of the Gesta Hungarorum of the Anonymous Notary (c. 1200) and the epistle of Master Roger about the Mongol invasion (1241), Central European Medieval Texts has reached the 'half-way mark' of the planned ten volume bilingual series of narratives from Bohemia, Dalmatia, Hungary, and Poland. Readers and editors/translators would like to use the occasion to evaluate what has been published and discuss the plans for the next five volumes.

Participants include Paul W. Knoll (University of Southern California), Balázs Nagy (Central European University, Budapest), Zrinka Nikolic Jakus (University of Zagreb), and Martyn Rady (University College London).
