Abstract

This session will explore various aspects of communal dynamics in relation to the nature of local rural communities, and divisions in wealth both within the communities and in relation to local lordship. A main objective of the session will be to explore rural communities in a comparative fashion, to gain new insights into how medieval communities can be conceptualised and how they functioned.
