Abstract | This session consists of two papers on cartularies to explore the issues which arise in detail. Andrew Smith will present his findings on the cartulary of Kelso Abbey, arguing that many of its entries were fabricated in 1320s, and that historians must therefore reassess what is known of the Anglo-Norman era in Scottish history. Tamiko Fujimoto examines the dozen pancartes detailing the acquisitions of the abbots of Saint-Étienne of Caen, their redactions, and their evolution in relation to the abbey's 12th-century cartulary. |
