Abstract

This session showcases new research by doctoral and postdoctoral students in the interdisciplinary field of Anglo-Saxon Studies. It explores ideas of spiritual wealth and poverty by looking at almsgiving and religious devotions. Linked to these themes by ideas of sin and punishment is a final paper the interpretation of disease as sin. The sources used in this session will Old English homilies, laws, and poetry.
