Abstract

The border of the Muslim district of Lleida was one of the most extreme territories of Western Islam. In the 11th century it became a place of confrontation, where the Muslim society that had transformed the landscape, had established social patterns, and had a Mediterranean outlook, was replaced by a new power, the feudal Christian civilization. Their ideological framework, and their institutional structure, indeed, this new society, was to affect the development of this country. The border of Lleida became a crossroads of civilizations.
