Abstract

Putting the layout of a manuscript into the right order is a result of many influences. Ayda Kaplan's paper studies the aesthetics and writing traditions of composition of the page as a whole in Syriac manuscripts. Floris Bernard discusses the general rules and individual habits governing the organization of paratext and text in Byzantine manuscripts. Emilie Cottereau-Gabillet asks whether you can extract rules of the social relationships between copyists and patrons of manuscripts from a corpus of colophons.
