Abstract

The papers of this session discover the rules of the spirtual and cultural universe expressed in art. Tomasz Węclawowicz analyzes the pattern of the network of town churches in early medieval Poland taking into account the significance of their dedications. Dariusz Tabor affirms that the prescriptions of Bernard of Clairvaux about art come from his spiritual teaching. Justyna Kuska searches for the rules for book painting in illuminated missals. The liturgy shapes the rules for illumination. Zofia Jackson analyzes the tapestry with the Legend of the Swan Knight . She show us how the original text influence the pictorial cycle of tapestry.
