Abstract

Papers in this session focus on medieval institutions of family and marriage and order/disorder in them. Speakers will discuss relationships and responsibilities between the members of these institutions, and rules, norms and expectations concerning them, but also legitimating and exercising authority in these (actual or symbolic) institutions.
