Abstract

Almost all the plays that have survived from the English Middle Ages and many 16th plays are based on Biblical or other sacred text. The three papers in this session will examine the treatment of the figure of Mary Magdalen as she is presented in the Biblical cycles, the medieval play of Mary Magdalen and the sixteenth century play Life and Repentance of Mary Magdalen by Lewis Wager
