Abstract | Byzantium is well known for its formalities, which ruled its public life. But what about formalities that ruled its private life? This session intends to explore preferences of the Byzantines that made them happy; display of wealth, display of propriety and its opposite, participation in social events of daily life, social behavior in accordance with prevailing social profiles of the 11th and 12th centuries will be at the thematic center of this session. |
