Abstract

This session announces the publication in 2015 of "'Meke Reverence and Devotion': A Reader in Late Medieval English Religious Writing (Exeter Medieval Texts, University of Liverpool Press), co-edited by Stephen Kelly and Ryan Perry. The anthology is the first representative collection of Middle English religious writing since Horstmann's Yorkshire Writers. This session previews the volume by exploring new perspectives on a range of little-known late medieval English pastoral and catechetical texts, discussing their distinctive theological outlooks, literary strategies, and material contexts in manuscript compilations.
