Abstract

This session inquires into medieval European polemical discourses against heresy and beyond. The speakers will contend that polemical discourses, sometimes thought of as one stereotypical discourse on 'the Other', are in fact quite diversified. They cannot be reduced to one clear image of the enemy; instead, they generate multiple images, and often yield quite valuable historical data.
