Abstract

As a continuation of the tradition of past congresses the international M(edieval) A(nimal) D(ata Network) again offers the discussion about one animal, its role and perception in the medieval world. This year, the whale will be the topic of the round table, an animal known by people mainly from the bible and as the subject of a number of visual and textual, often very different discourses.

Participants include Thierry Buquet (Institut Français du Proche Orient, Beirut), Alice Choyke (Central European University, Budapest), Irina Metzler (Swansea University), and Mónica Ann Walker Vadillo (University of Louisville, Kentucky).
