Abstract

This is the first of two sessions exploring the culture of the cathedral close in late medieval England, and will focus on Lincoln cathedral. These sessions will explore the different kinds of shared, opposing, and overlapping cultural interests to be found within the diverse community/ies of the episcopal household, curia, diocesan administration, chapter and wider cathedral community. This session will focus on political roles and engagements, within and representing the diocesan community.
