Abstract

This strand of six sessions was organised to provide a unified forum for the discussion of Scandinavian history, which last year had been divided into several scattered sessions, some of which conflicted. The sixth and last session will address the theme of reckoning with time, the dead and the past, in the form of liturgy, saints' lives, commemoration of the dead and computation of time. The first paper looks at lost segments of the life of Theodegaro, the second at the production of chant-books in Sweden, the third at social status and commemoration of the dead in Denmark, and the fourth at Icelandic time-reckoning.
