Abstract

The session studies political, social, and cultural aspects of 'reform' in late medieval Europe, stressing the importance of groups and communities in the process of (re)formation of new identities. Starting from different points, biblical translations, changing political landscapes in the Byzantine empire, and the participation of new groups to the creation and the discussion of theological knowlegde, the contributions investigate the birth and the development of critical reform thinking in a wide geographical area.
