Abstract

This session is devoted to new research on several aspects of the great Yorkshire abbey of Rievaulx: an examination of the treasury and its storage; how religious life and liturgy in the late Middle Ages affected architectural design; and what information the Rievaulx Abbey collections reveal about the people and workings of the medieval monastery and the process of the Dissolution.
