Abstract

This session examines the visual identity of the Knights Hospitaller of St John of Jerusalem as displayed in the years around and following the dissolution of the Knights Templar. Papers will evaluate how artworks associated with the Hospitallers served to define and strengthen the Order's international identity through patronage, iconography, and appropriation.
