| Abstract | This session unites both historical and archeological evidence for the use of food in the conflict in the medieval Latin East. One lecture explores the ways in which food was used as a weapon by the invaders and by the local populace against the crusaders. The second lecture brings the archeological evidence from Arsuf for what was consumed there during peacetime and wartime. The concluding lecture provides a different perspective: the use of food as a bridge between the warring sides and as a step toward peacemaking. |
