Abstract

This session will examine two forgotten 14th-century mystics, one Belgian and the other English. The session will examine some of the key features of their thought, including how they deal with the relationship between themselves and God as the ultimate Other, and also how they construct their mystical authority. The session will consider why these two mystics have been largely forgotten by contemporary scholars where others are so vividly remembered.
