| Abstract | Despite the advances in our knowledge of Castilian royal taxation during the Late Middle Ages, ecclesiastical and noble income remain an almost unexplored topic. In this session, we aim to approach its semiotics putting them in relation with a parallel session on royal issues (The Names of Fiscus, II: A Preliminary Approach to Royal Income Semiotics in Castile, 13th - 15th Centuries). For this purpose, we will establish two key topics. First of all, the ecclesiastical contribution to the king's treasury. As ecclesiastical contributions in Aragon and Castile converge at the end of the 15th centuries, both realities will be explored. Secondly, a look at manor taxation in Andalusia, the region with the most homogeneous noble states within Castile. |
