Abstract | The large presence of notaries in Mediterranean countries entails a considerable variety of authorities that nominated them and the diversity of notaries' offices. However, the process of implementation and development of the notariat differed from one country to other. In this sense, it is important to analyse the practice and the activity of these notaries, but also to study the notaries as a social group. Moreover, notarial records can be a good source to study otherness, identities, gender, education, etc. |
