Abstract

As the field of castle studies expands with fresh perspectives, gendered areas and concepts of privacy within the medieval castle have been somewhat left behind. This round table discussion explores the themes of female and masculine spaces within the castle and other secular elite structures, movement and liturgy within and around the castle, and the evolution and fluctuating importance of privacy from Anglo-Saxon England through the Late Middle Ages.

Participants include Rachel Delman (University of Oxford), David Rollason (Durham University), Audrey Thorstad (Bangor University), and Katherine Weikert (University of Winchester).
