| Abstract | This round table will focus on the issues facing monarchy and memory on a global scale, with speakers presenting issues faced in Europe, Africa, and Asia. The round table will develop upon discussions raised by the strand, and invite debate as to whether we can draw upon common themes or distinctions between the ways countries commemorated and memoralised their monarchs. The round table will focus on both medieval and modern historiography and offer suggestions as to how future scholarship can overcome issues surrounding the remembrance of monarchs in a global context. Participants include Karl Alvestad (University of Winchester), Lucinda Dean (University of the Highlands & Islands, Dornoch), Melanie Maddox (Military College of South Carolina), Fatima Rhorchi (Université Moulay Ismaïl, Morocco), and Levi Roach (University of Exeter). |
