Abstract	The Old French Roman des Sept Sages de Rome is a fiercely misogynist text. Throughout the Middle Ages, it was very popular and spread all over Europe. It gave rise to rewritings and continuations in French, but also to a whole series of translations in a wide range of European languages. This session has a double focus. It is devoted to the relationships between the French source text and the medieval translations in Latin, English, German, and Dutch and, more particularly, to gender issues in the Old French source and its translations.
