Abstract

Human activity leaves deep material traces, both in the landscape and in the subsoil. These traces can be analyzed through archaeological methodology. The territory, in surface and underground, is like a palimpsest that saves the historical memory which we can read and understand. In this session we will expose three proposals in this sense: the historical memory of the Pyrenees Valley since 5th Century to 15th Century, the archaeological and textual registers based on the territory to concrete an spiritual landscape memory, and an exploration on landscape memory through some territorial evidences as toponymy, orography, and archaeological registers from the early medieval Catalan counties.
