Abstract

A variety of Local identities are expressed in several ways within the archaeological record. Whether this is social identity revealed by stature, kinship revealed in cemetery sites, or house plans as an indicator of migrant identity, local identity is a complex topic. We will focus on North Western Europe in the late antique and early medieval periods, to draw out the subtilties of local identities, and how they are portrayed within the archaeological record.
