Abstract

The Mortimer History Society was launched in 2009 to provide a focus and forum for all those who are interested in the medieval Mortimer dynasty and the history of the Welsh Marches. In the second of two linked sessions speakers will look in more detail at the activities and dynastic strategies of the Mortimer family of Wigmore, later earls of March, from the end of the 13th to the end of the 14th centuries. This will examine in more detail the national and local role, dynastic politics and military role of this most important of medieval English baronial/comital families.
