Abstract

Moving from Spring, through Summer into Winter, this session considers the way in which medieval writers used the seasons to present 'alternative' views of romance, and how this theme was taken up in later representations of their stories. It presents weather and climate as fantasy and as lived experience, for both characters and audiences.
