Abstract

This second panel in a series of sessions focussing on royal sexuality and reputation investigates how sexualities can be difficult to view in medieval sources, either through lack of evidence or through deliberate obscuring of the events. Presenting fresh perspectives on royal sexualities, this session investigates obscured and hidden sexualities which allow us to refresh our perceptions of these monarchs. These papers bring further investigations into sex, gender, and power to light which proves useful when re-evaluating rulership and authority in the medieval period.
