| Abstract | As often observed, the basic plots of narratives are constantly in motion: they cross the borders of languages, of cultures, and of countries. Whereas traditional research - most famously the Aarne-Thompson-Uther Index - has tried to classify and to describe this kind of dissemination, modern research often uses specific case studies to analyse the movement of one specific story across language borders. Against this background, the panel aims to highlight the circulation of medieval short stories in different tongues, contexts, and circles, constructing a network of narration in similarity and variation. |
