Abstract

This session, honoring the scholarship and professional life of Donald G. Scragg, will focus on interests that were central to his lifetime's work: the Vercelli Book, Old English scribes, and the history of Early English lexis. Linking all three papers is the idea of the tracing of patterns of scholarly steps and the movement of learning and bodies. Speakers will highlight movement of knowledge from one medium to another; the tracing of individuals who created the Old English record; and the representation of movement in Old English Poetry. Through our papers, we'll outline the continuing presence of Don Scragg's monumental achievements and discuss the influence of his work in Old English scholarship and academic networks today.
