Visas and ETAs for Overseas Delegates
As of 30 January 2020, the United Kingdom is no longer part of the European Union.
We encourage all delegates who are concerned about obtaining a visa, or who are uncertain whether they will require one to attend the IMC as a result of Brexit, to check the official UK government gov.uk website.
Generate a Formal Letter of Invitation
Once the programme is confirmed (usually in early December) we will be able to issue formal letters of invitation.
Delegates with an involvement in the IMC can generate a letter of invitation by logging into the Speaker Center via the link in your acceptance email.
Then, click on your paper/session, scroll to the bottom of the page and a button titled “Generate Letter” should appear. This will contain details of the paper, session, and date of your participation.
Please note: We ask that delegates wait until they have heard whether their session/paper proposal has been accepted into the programme and scheduled by the Programming Committee before contacting us to request a letter of invitation.
Electronic Travel Authorisation
Since April 2025, all visitors who do not need a visa will need an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) to travel to or transit through the UK. To find out more, please visit: www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta. British and Irish citizens do not require an ETA.
Issues or Problems
If you have any concerns, or have been experiencing difficulties obtaining a visa, please let us know by emailing [email protected]. While the IMC is not able to offer advice on individual cases, we are keen to find out more if individual delegates are experiencing difficulties.
