Abstract

During the Middle Ages travel played an important role in the spirituality process which was established in the Hispanic territory. Our aim is to make an analysis of the magnitude of the medieval travel, since it had an effect on different areas of the western culture. Because of it our study includes different aspects since physical travel of men and objects until mental travel or travel toward the spiritual perfection. The literary texts about pilgrimage travel to Holy Land, the ascetic phenomenon, or the movement of the relics between the al-Andalus territory and north peninsula show the importance of medieval travel for the Hispanic culture, its art, and mentality.
