Abstract

Louis IV the Bavarian was crowned in 1314 in Frankfurt. The anniversary of his coronation is celebrated by many publications and congresses in Bavaria. Furthermore, in 2014 an exhibition will take place at Regensburg, one of the former residences of Ludwig. These activities in Bavaria, however, do not aim only at Louis' Bavarian activities, but they will focus on Louis as 'global player' of the 14th century. So the session will show Louis' role between tradition and innovation as well as the Franciscan exile, e.g. William of Ockham, in Europe politics and culture. In this session the lyrics and music at his court will play an important role.
