Abstract

This strand of three sessions will examine various aspects of Anglo-Scottish relations from the 12th to the 16th centuries. This third session will consider aspects of Anglo-Scottish warfare in the late Middle Ages, examining: relations between England, Scotland, and France, leading to the defeat of an English army in France by the Scots; the impact of Anglo-Scottish relations on the suppression of rebellion and the conduct of sieges by the English Crown in the English borders; and whether to not the threat of war with England had an impact on the conduct of feud in late medieval Scotland.
