Session 1418: Across the Pond: Transatlantic Perspectives on Graduate Study and the Job Market - A Round Table Discussion

Wednesday 12 July 2006, 19.30-20.30

Sponsor:Medieval Academy of America Graduate Student Committee
Organiser:J. Patrick Hornbeck II, Faculty of Theology, University of Oxford
Moderator/Chair:James P. Wade, Magdalene College, University of Cambridge
Abstract

The increasing presence of international students in North American and European doctoral programs has, despite the salutary benefits of diversity, highlighted a number of differences between the professional cultures of the two continents' academic institutions. The Medieval Academy's Graduate Student Committee hopes to respond to this challenge by hosting a round table of individuals who can speak of their experiences of learning, teaching, interviewing, and being hired on both sides of the Atlantic.
Participants include Julian Hendrix (University of Cambridge).
