Abstract

The session is part of three sessions for the Daily Life Strand that deal with different aspects of pleasures in medieval life and their representation. The papers in this one concentrate on the discourse concerning spritual and material pleasures in Christian and Jewish patterns of thought. On the one hand, they show an indispensable context, on the other, they are dominated by the importance of contrast.
